CARTOONS (and my child-like wonders)
wanna get back to the past
to a better time
where being a kid actually meant something
carefree and happy, i owe my positivity to Billy
living life wasn't difficult at the pace we were moving
still we had no idea where we were going
though Sonic hyped us to go fast
while Johnny Bravo taught us to keep it grooving
it wasn't hard even when we were losing
as a matter of fact we were mad lax
doing big things as little kids
without having to worry about a bi-weekly check
or stress about filing tax
our imaginations took us from Lyoko to Nowhere Land
and in reality, we were either up to no good
or just being bad
i miss being sad
about the little things that made even little sense
where a penny for my thoughts made me proud
to speak up for myself and less tense
i miss the moments shared playing with childhood friends
we were always linkin like Numbuh 5
from Sector V of the KND
ready to take on new challenges
with a smile on our face like Numbuh 3
and no matter how Grim the mission is
we weren't Cowardly, dog
we had Courage
like trying to Mac on a girl
but then feeling Bloo when she rejected you
then take a nap and immediately forget all about it
like trying to Mac on a girl
but then feeling Bloo when she rejected you
then take a nap and immediately forget all about it
those childish ways of living were the easiest
and it sucks that all we can do now is reminisce
yin-yang, but we threw off balances, though
we didn't throw away any challenges
lest we stunted our growth
we were proud of this
take me back to those days
to a time where it wasn't so serious
you remember, where cartoons were enjoyable
and playgrounds were meant for timeless play
before anyone knew what time the adventure started
or wondered why George was so curious
let's playback to a period of history
the era of Scooby Doo and Hong Kong Phooey
where make believe made you believe you were
what your mind made you to be and believed
where the Flinstones made our beds rock and
horror movies taught us to keep our doors locked
what your mind made you to be and believed
where the Flinstones made our beds rock and
horror movies taught us to keep our doors locked
i'm just being honest, and though opinions may flock
i would've had a more amusing time staging homemade
puppet shows with nothing but my boredom and socks
pretending to solve mysteries with my talking dog
or making that time worthwhile with my imaginary friends
only wishing that it wouldn't end
i speak no lies
growing up stinks
puberty burst bubbles
then says, "suck it up, buttercup"
now it's even harder to tell the past goodbye
but i imagine there's a bright side
we blossom from our childish ways toward
a brighter future with blessings that desire to say hi
so i guess a Rugrat's gotta grow up sometime.
